In love with how dainty these boxes are.  I have quite a crush on French Macaroons and having one of these in my purse would light me up.

Toy camera

This wooden toy camera would be perfect for my little man.  I’m always snapping pictures of him, it’s about time I get him started on my hobby.  Twigcreative is an awesome company.  Check them out.  They are going to be huge.

Lucite clutch

I have to give credit to my friend, Rachel.  She is the most stylish fashionista I know!  We met for brunch last Sunday for a friend’s baby shower, and as I was walking in the restaurant- I spotted this gem (no pun intended) on the table and it was love at first sight.  Obsessed- yep this beauty is on it’s way to me.  Thank you Rachel… xoxoxo!

baby boy style {Memorial Day}

I gathered some adorable pieces for boys to sport on Memorial Day.  I am so impressed with how cute boys clothes are becoming.  Designers are realizing that they have to keep boys just as trendy as the girls.  I try to dress my little gem in hip urban styles, but the most important is how comfortable the clothes are.  Crew is 10 months, so as you know he’s a movin and a shaken.  I try to dress him in light weight clothing that breathes well since it’s approaching summer.  My favorite site to stock his wardrobe is Zara.  Seriously, I love their kids line.  They bring a fresh, modern, and fun feel to their looks.  Their clothing is pretty true to size and are superb in quality.  Obviously, Gap kids is always a perfect place to find baby clothing.  I love their onesie’s because they are all made from sturdy cotton and they last forever.  You can never go wrong with Old Navy.  They are so affordable, which is a plus because little ones grow so fast.  I get so giddy when I look for outfits for Crew.  I could probably shop for kids clothes for days.

Is there a favorite brand you like to dress your little one in?

weekend recap.

Hubs and I visited one of our favorite resorts this weekend, the Montelucia.  If you get a chance, I would highly recommend it.  We stayed for one night- a mini stay-cation of sorts.  It was a perfect way to spend my Mother’s Day.  Little man loves the water… this was the first exploration for pool day and it was a hit.  Looks like I will be looking into swimming lessons soon.

In my post here, I wrote about revamping my blog and finding a web designer.  There are so many fabulous ones out there, that it was so hard to narrow it down.  I wanted a designer that could collaborate with me and bring all my visions to life.  And so… I am thrilled to be working with Red Met Yellow Creative.  I was so proud of myself in the fact that I didn’t make an impulsive decision.  Normally I would have but with Crew & Lu I feel as though I’ve been nurturing this process.  I took a lot of time, asking myself what I wanted from a design team.  If they could achieve the look I envisioned, and honestly if they are cohesive with my brand.  I think it is so important to choose a designer that has your same esthetic.  Red Met Yellow definitely fit that mold.  Not only that, Megan took the time to speak with me to answer any questions I had and put all my fears to rest.  And so another part of the journey has begun.  I am exploding with nervousness, excitement, and I am learning patience.  Can’t wait for you all to see what has to come.

Creative kisses to you.

I am in love with this image above.  My friend saw it on Instagram and sent it to me… lovely Stephanie- Thank you.  It’s the little things that can make a difference and affect the people around you.  I am so lucky to have friends and family that are so supportive.  It is so important to surround yourself with people who inspire, uplift, and motivate you.
I began blogging mainly for me.  I thought it would be a cool way to document moments in my life and honestly as I’ve aged, I was feeling as though I had lost my creative outlet.  Since I’ve started Crew & Lu, I feel invigorated.  I want to try new things, even if they don’t result in what I envisioned.  Most importantly I want to become a DO-er, no more putting things off or making excuses.  It’s time to make it happen.  I have big plans for the future of Crew & Lu.  And I hope you all take a ride with me and experience my journey in developing my brand.  I can guarantee funny stories, insight, and fun!

 I want to create a movement to help inspire people much like myself who need to revive their thirst for life.  It’s titled, “The little things” and it’s simple…UPLIFT others.

The Little Things MOVEMENT

*FIRST TASK, reach out to 1 person by the end of the week and do something simple to help bring a smile to their face.  It can be as easy as a phone call, text them a joke, send them a funny pic, buy them a coffee, anything that will make their day.  I promise you will feel gratification by their response.  This may seem insignificant, but these little gestures can sometimes mean the most!  So I encourage you to participate with me!

*SECOND TASK, this will be fun I promise.  Pick one thing you’ve always wanted to do, but for some reason you haven’t and DO IT!  Like a new hairstyle, a new fitness class, a DIY project, ANYTHING.  This task will help develop time for yourself and bring your creativity out! If you want to make this more fun, take a pic and post it on Instagram and make sure you hashtag #LittleThingsMovement.  It will be so much fun to see everyones adventures.

I would love to hear all of your stories and hope you revive your creativity.  This will be epic!

macaroonsFrench Macaroons- the Queen of all desserts, in my eyes.  They are so dainty and divine.  I have always wanted to make these, so to embrace “The Little Things” second task -I took on the challenge.  I followed the Martha Stewart recipe and they turned out quite lovely.    I felt so accomplished and proud of the petite treats. They made the perfect delivery to my gal pals.

You can do it 🙂

revamping the blog.

cropped-crew-lu-blush.jpgWhen I first started blogging, I did it mainly for me.  I wasn’t worried about having any followers or impressing anyone.  But since I’ve started I’ve met such interesting creative people and that fueled my spark! It was a way to express myself and it has turned into a hobby of sorts.
So now I’m at a stage where I really want to dive in and take this seriously.  Therefore, leading me to this topic…upgrading my current blog I have now to a custom one.  This current theme you are seeing now is one of many that is free with WordPress.  I’m still new at this so I just learn as I go.  I know I’m missing important things on the blog, like social media buttons, contact page, and too many to list.  I really feel it’s important to have a visual site that really represents my personality and the message I want to get across.  I’m in love with my logo- still feel like it’s timeless and classic.  My girlfriend, Julie has been so awesome in helping me create a brand.  You can view my branding post here.  I’ve been surfing the web for ideas so I have a few color schemes I love…
RMY_Brandboard{via redmetyellow.com/blog– loving the color scheme}
Redmetyellow is a design team that I am crushing on.  They have such impeccable work and new modern ideas.  I am in love with how intricate their sites look and they also seem easy to navigate.  I contacted Megan, their web designer, and got an answer right away.  I think it is so important to have great communication with your designer as your outcome will just be that much better because you’ve expressed your vision.  I feel like your web designer should be able to get your ideas out of you and execute your vision to the best of their abilities.   Redmetyellow is a definite front runner for my new website.
October-Ink-Cara-Loren-Website{via Octoberink.com }
I stumbled across October Ink on Instagram.  They have designed some fellow bloggers’ sites and I am totally diggin their esthetic.  I love their light-fresh approach and feel they would represent my brand very well.  My hubs will tell you, I act on impulse.  But I really feel that October Ink would make sure I have something I won’t get sick and will be timeless.
BikinisPassportsBlogDesign{via Saffronavenue.com– Really enjoying this color scheme!}

Creating a custom site can definitely cost a pretty penny.  So I definitely have to put some good thought into this.  I want to be thorough as possible but time is also important, as I don’t want to take forever with a new launch of my blog.  Fellow bloggers, I’m asking for your help!  Any advice on how to choose a web designer?  How to come up with the look of your blog.  Do you think it’s important to have a custom site to define you?

Looking forward to your input!  Feel free to post a comment linking anything you’ve written about this topic!
