These are a few items I’ve been eyeing.  The Capri Blue Candle is my favorite home scent of all time, and I could go through one of those weekly! I’ve been lusting over the Sydney Evan Love ring for over a year now…(hubby- if you are reading this…hint, hint).  The  calendar made of my Instagram photos are so cute and would be perfect for my desk!  Plus I love looking back at photos and reminiscing…each photo always has a story.
Honestly though,  I’m quite a happy mama…of course, I’d like these things but I don’t NEED them.  This has been the most rewarding year of my life and just hanging out with my little gem for Mother’s Day would be the perfect gift!

comic bubbles diy.

Hello!Pow
How rad are these chalkboard photo props?  They are so extremely easy to make and a great way to add FUN to any party!  Personally, I’d do a impromptu photo shoot with them any time.  Follow these simple steps below to start personalizing your photos!

What you’ll need:
{Cardboard poster, this is thicker than poster board and I found it in the same isle as the poster board}
{Chalkboard paint}
{Wood dowels}
{Gorilla tape or Duct tape}

cartoon pop upThe first couple of steps are simple!  Sketch the shape you want your comic bubble to look like on the back of the cardboard poster.  I wanted my bubbles to be a little bit bigger so I was able to fit two on mine.  I think it would be cute to make slightly smaller ones for kids and honestly there are so many shapes you could do!  Then cut them out with scissors.
cartoon pop up diyAfter my shapes were cut out, I rolled chalkboard paint with a small sponge roller (to get a more even finish).  I painted three coats, giving dry time between the coats.  I’m sure two coats would do but I wanted to make sure the whole surface was even and durable.
Once dried, I attached round wood dowels on the backside of the comic bubbles with Gorilla tape.  And voila!  Have a ball with awesome photos and endless captions!
BucketThis is my dog Bucket!  My hubs and I always narrate what’s going on in his head.
BaconI’m pretty positive this is on his mind daily!  Hee-hee
Pow 1Happy diy!

bobbing for baubles.

| 3.  Crystal shapes bracelet, JCrew |4.  Enamel Stud Bangle, Baublebar
| 5.  Crystal and neon chevron bracelet, JCrew | 6.  Rose Omega Cuff, Baublebar |

I’m totally crushing over these pieces.  As you can see I love arm candy.  I stack bracelets of all sizes all the time, and I even mix up metals.  I love gold and silver together so I don’t mind contrasting metals.  I recently discovered Baublebar, they have the most cute and trendy pieces at such an affordable price.  My love for JCrew has grown this past year, their style seems to be gearing toward more modern elements with the JCrew twist.  So happy they are on their A-game.

I’m always looking for new shops!  Do you have any shops you’d like to expose me to?

time…is on my side.

7FEE20B5-1FDA-43AD-BFDD-F74AA6861B35I find myself always looking at the clock.
As I reflect, I used to look at the time and I remember the feeling of anxiousness or excitement.  Counting down the seconds till I could get out of class or when I could meet my friends for a night on the town.  Minutes to when I could see my boyfriend or the seconds it took for him to open my car door. The feeling of having no cares in the world, no responsibilities, and just live by the moment decisions.   Time was on my side…I miss those feelings.
As I’ve aged through the years, I look at time now and those carefree feelings have changed.  Anxiousness has turned into panic and excitement has turned into stress.  Balancing my time has been such a struggle for me lately.  I feel as though I have lost my hidden talent to juggle many activities all at once.  In my head, I have an agenda of all the things I need to get done; I plan accordingly and before I know it I blink my eyes and time snuck up on me.  Then it surpasses me.  I end up chasing time and in the end I feel defeated by not accomplishing tasks I needed to do.  I apologize constantly for always being five minutes late (if you know me, it’s almost like it’s a part of my DNA), I’m embarrassed because half the time I look like a hot mess, and most of all I hate feeling scatter-brained.
But then, I have to remind myself….I’m human.  I have a perfectionist personality and I have to learn to let things go.  Or to better put it, realize that you don’t have to do everything all at once.  And most importantly, to not sweat the small stuff.  I think I put the pressure on myself to get everything I want done in one sitting and sometimes that’s just not possible.  Reminding myself to BREATHE has been super helpful.  Letting myself take a few minutes to regroup and weed out what is really important at this moment or if I could put it aside till I have more time is something that I’m still learning to do.   Making myself a list everyday allows me to visually organize my time and has been a useful tool to helping me find more BALANCE.
Balance has been so important in creating a healthy and happy relationship between my husband, baby, and work.   I’ve realized that most important thing in my life is my family.  As long as I can see my sons beautiful smile and have the support of my amazing husband, that’s the best feeling I could ever ask for.  Regaining confidence in myself is the next step, everything else will fall into place just as it should be.
Finding balance is hard and I’m still working on it.  But the good thing is,
I have time on my side….and my family.

stripes.

black and white 2

{Asos black crop top | Asos Midi Skirt | Jimmy Choo wedges}
I love me some stripes!  My sister recently threw a lavish birthday party for my brother in law and requested guests to dress in black and white.  I didn’t complain as I love wearing that color scheme.  Not only is black so complementing to every body type but it’s just classic.  The 80’s have been makin a come back and I’m definitely jumping in and testing some of it’s beloved trends.  I’m not one to wear anything too showy or flashy but in this circumstance, why not?  So I busted out the mid-drift bearing crop top.  Gave just a peek of skin and paired it with a high wasted striped midi skirt.  There was so much going on with the stripes that I just accessorized with some arm candy and as always, nude wedges.  I loved twirling in this skirt!
lookblackand whiteblackandwhitefamily 5I go gaga when I see hubs in a nice button up shirt.  He cleans up well!  And I can’t forget little man, I dressed him in a classic linen shirt from Crazy 8 and paired it with a nice black skinny jean from H&M.  Seriously, I giggle with how cute baby clothes are these days!  I’m a photographolic!  I am obsessed with trying to capture every moment but their mostly of just Crew, Crew with dad, or Crew with me.  So I was so happy when we were able to capture some family pics!

revamping the blog.

cropped-crew-lu-blush.jpgWhen I first started blogging, I did it mainly for me.  I wasn’t worried about having any followers or impressing anyone.  But since I’ve started I’ve met such interesting creative people and that fueled my spark! It was a way to express myself and it has turned into a hobby of sorts.
So now I’m at a stage where I really want to dive in and take this seriously.  Therefore, leading me to this topic…upgrading my current blog I have now to a custom one.  This current theme you are seeing now is one of many that is free with WordPress.  I’m still new at this so I just learn as I go.  I know I’m missing important things on the blog, like social media buttons, contact page, and too many to list.  I really feel it’s important to have a visual site that really represents my personality and the message I want to get across.  I’m in love with my logo- still feel like it’s timeless and classic.  My girlfriend, Julie has been so awesome in helping me create a brand.  You can view my branding post here.  I’ve been surfing the web for ideas so I have a few color schemes I love…
RMY_Brandboard{via redmetyellow.com/blog– loving the color scheme}
Redmetyellow is a design team that I am crushing on.  They have such impeccable work and new modern ideas.  I am in love with how intricate their sites look and they also seem easy to navigate.  I contacted Megan, their web designer, and got an answer right away.  I think it is so important to have great communication with your designer as your outcome will just be that much better because you’ve expressed your vision.  I feel like your web designer should be able to get your ideas out of you and execute your vision to the best of their abilities.   Redmetyellow is a definite front runner for my new website.
October-Ink-Cara-Loren-Website{via Octoberink.com }
I stumbled across October Ink on Instagram.  They have designed some fellow bloggers’ sites and I am totally diggin their esthetic.  I love their light-fresh approach and feel they would represent my brand very well.  My hubs will tell you, I act on impulse.  But I really feel that October Ink would make sure I have something I won’t get sick and will be timeless.
BikinisPassportsBlogDesign{via Saffronavenue.com– Really enjoying this color scheme!}

Creating a custom site can definitely cost a pretty penny.  So I definitely have to put some good thought into this.  I want to be thorough as possible but time is also important, as I don’t want to take forever with a new launch of my blog.  Fellow bloggers, I’m asking for your help!  Any advice on how to choose a web designer?  How to come up with the look of your blog.  Do you think it’s important to have a custom site to define you?

Looking forward to your input!  Feel free to post a comment linking anything you’ve written about this topic!

weekend recap.

TKThis is TK…one of my three sisters.  We four sisters have a special bond, unexplainable.  I’ll highlight my sisters in future posts, till then I’ll fill you in on what happened in my world this past  weekend.  TK and I attended The Shine Project’s Beauty Bar event and it was so fun getting pampered.  I did a post about The Shine Project here…and if you haven’t read up on them you should because they are amazing.  Truly inspiring, Ashley (founder of The Shine Project) is creating such an awesome movement.
Beautybar{Sorry didn’t have many shots from the event, it was so windy that night.  This pic is from my iPhone}  We got to hear from some students, past recipients of The Shine Project Scholarship Fund and future applicants.  They were all so sweet and grateful!
crew swimWe also attended my friend’s son’s fourth birthday party.  And as you can see Crew got some water time fun in.  Let me tell you, he loves the water…maybe a future swimmer on our hands?  Ha!  So fun to watch him splash around thinking he is one of the big kids!

So excited that I got to work on my sewing skills this weekend.  I’ve never really had that much patience but I’m learning.  And the gratification I get when I have a finished product is just peachy!  I love love love baby leggings!  Not only do they look super cool but I feel like they would be so much more comfortable for the babes to crawl around in…

aztec leggingsheadbands{iphone pic}
Of course I had to get some girly stuff in there too.  Head bands are so cute on baby girls, I can’t stand it!

Crew rockin his baby leggings.  Seriously this kid is just too cool.

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

target does it again.

main pic How is it I walk into Target only to grab one thing and come our with a whole cart full?  Cause Target is amazing that’s why.  They have such amazing finds that are not only so adorable that I gotta have it but they are also budget friendly!  I could go on and on about the awesomeness you can find at Target but I’m going to go over one area in particular today.  The one dollar corner when you first walk in!  Yep, you heard me- most of the items you find in this isle are only a buck!  Now I tend to stock up my office with craft supplies, wrapping paper, note cards, etc.  I like to have everything on hand so I can put stuff together in a jiffy.  So when I was browsing through Target the other day, I felt like I was in a treasure chest!
uyen2uyen3{Some of the items I picked up are so random.  But I’m sure they’ll come in handy some day.}
photo{Little man, looking over my receipt making sure they charged me correctly 😉  He’s an awesome shopping buddy}

I’m sure the next time you’re in Target, you’ll be checking out that isle.

weekend recap {san diego}.

uyen21This pic pretty much sums our weekend.  My hubs and I have always LOVED San Diego and now we can enjoy it with our son!  I know, I know what you’re thinking…he’s so young.  Well I guess we are building memories for us.  These precious moments at his age don’t last for very long and I want to cherish every moment.  It was so fun to see him take everything in, and of course it was fun for us too!
uyen10{He loved this little spin ride}
PicMonkey Collage2{top left: At Sea World, one of my favorite pics- I just love Crew’s expression here | top right: he loves the camera | bottom left:  we call this the dad backpack- yep we’ve hit that point in our lives | bottom right: view next to our hotel}
The weather in San Diego this weekend was a bit chilly.  But that didn’t stop us from taking all the sights in.  We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Mission Bay, loved that it was walking distance to Sea World but disappointed that they didn’t offer any type of shuttle service.  Other than that, the staff was super friendly and the accommodations were nice.  Couldn’t complain, I was on vacay!
PicMonkey Collage{too many pics to choose from, so I just made a collage of some or this post would be a mile long}
