crews room 8Every mother dreams of a perfect nursery for their baby.  I started really designing his room when I was about 16 weeks pregnant.  I am proud to say that I painted the stripes all by myself (like a big girl-ha).  My handy hubby installed the crown molding which really finished the room nicely.  It was hard work but I am in love with how the room turned out.  I’ve included some links below to some of the pieces in his room.  If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me!

master bath remodel {part one}.

bathroomremodelFirst of all, I should start off with a disclaimer….we are NOT professionals!  Ha!  My husband and I always sit around and think up big ideas…and I mean BIG!  One evening, we thought of a master plan for our master bath and of course while thinking- we’re rubbing our hands together thinking we are GENIUSES (had to give you a visual).  This is the biggest project either of us has ever taken on and actually we were both renovation virgins.  I honestly think we would have been perfect for that show “Renovation Realities”.  Hey, ya gotta start somewhere right?  I scoured through pinterest, magazines, internet, and even had help with an interior designer at one point to help me figure out what direction I wanted the master bath to go in.  Well, I’m not gonna lie this renovation was a lot bigger than we thought and well…it’s taken us awhile.  But I’m staying positive and always refer to the fact that once it’s finished, it will be mind blowing AMAZING.  Until then…we are still working away!
bath drawingsWe actually started the renovation back when I was pregnant with Crew so I apologize I really don’t have any thorough before pictures.  Hopefully you get the idea with the picture above, I stated where the bath tub was and where the shower was.  As you can see that space where the shower was is teeny tiny.  I’m not a very big person and I even felt like a giant in there, so you can only imagine how my husband was!  Even though I love my baths, my husband and I both agreed that there just wasn’t enough space to have a full tub.  And honestly, we both take more showers than we ever did baths.  Hubs also pointed out that we have our spare bathroom so if I ever wanted to get pruney hands, I could take a bath in there.  One big concern was of course, resale of our home…would new owners think it’s funny there’s no tub in the master bath?  We decided to take the risk to have no tub but upgrade to spa like amenities and have a steam shower.  We hope future buyers will agree with us and will think it’s awesome like we do.

tileMy hubby really wanted the steam shower so I let him run with that.  Everything else, he left to me.  He has been amazing helping my vision come to life and has been so easy going with the choices I’ve made.  And lucky for me, he’s loved everything I’ve thrown at him.  I have to say we’ve collaborated really well so far.  I love the look of marble, I think it comes across so classy and clean.  I picked out tile that had grey undertones rather than brown and he painstakeingly hand cut every tile to make this herringbone pattern I’m absolutely obsessed with!  We had some help with the tiling as we were at crunch time (baby boy was going to make his appearance any day).  We at least wanted the shower portion of the renovation done.  I was actually running out to pick up more tile, when I went into labor!  But that’s another story in itself.
tile2So while I was in labor and experienced the best day of my life…the shower took shape.  Can you see the gloriousness…My hubs was with me at the hospital but got to check in quick at home to see the progress.
finishedshowerAfter we got home and settled with the baby…we got to work on the shower.  And the shower portion finally got done!  Whoopee!
finishedshower2rainshowerWe installed a rain shower head (Kohler- similar one here).  It’s seriously my favorite part, feels like you’re under a waterfall!
bottomshowerI wanted to keep the herringbone pattern on the bottom of the shower…I didn’t want too much going on but I thought this smaller tile complimented the shower as a whole perfectly.
showerAnd part one…DONE!  Hope you like our shower- we are in love with it!  Now on to part two.  Remember where the old shower was…that teeny tiny space?  That my friends, is going to become my vanity.  Part two coming soon!

weekend recap.

Crew easter basketCelebrating Crew’s first Holidays are so fun. Even though he probably doesn’t know what’s going on, I love making a big deal out of them! I had so much fun putting together his Easter basket. Obviously he’s not into candy yet…so I (Easter bunny mama) filled it with all sorts of goodies that he could use everyday. I added the chalkboard to the tin bucket and I’m glad I can reuse it in his room. I put a few t-shirts in his basket as he’s growing like a weed and can always use more clothes! Those little shoes are actually all plastic! They are i play shoes and I thought they would be perfect for when we start heading to splash pads. They can get wet and are so light weight. Crew loves pounding on things and what would be better than this little piano. I just hope my ears can withstand it. But who knows, maybe he’ll be a little mozart, ha! I added a new Mickey Mouse book with sounds and also new paci’s. He loves his food, normally I make organic food for him but once in awhile when I’m in a pinch I turn to Plum Organics baby food. I like their wide range of flavors! I couldn’t wait to see him dig into this basket!crew easter Crew Easter 2{Crew loved banging on this piano}
Crew Easter3dining benchFAB FINDS! Don’t you just love it when you find something amazing!!!!! I’ve been trying to design my formal dining area. It’s the first thing you see when you walk through my front door. I am going for industrial chic with a twist look. Honestly, I love so many looks I don’t know what direction to turn to. I definitely don’t want it to be too stuffy and I want the overall look to be functional and of course make you go “ooohhhh ahhhh”. I came across this tufted bench at Marshall’s- sometimes you can find such awesome pieces there! And…. I even got it for 15% off! I kindly spoke with the manager on duty to see if there was anything they could do as it had some marks on the fabric (mostly marks I could easily clean). Hey, it never hurts to ask and this in this case it came out in my favor. I picture this bench to be used as seating around a farm like table. I would have two chairs at the end of the table and two chairs or a bench on the opposite side of the tufted bench. I’m excited to pull it all together. Once I get further in the design process, I’ll post before and afters!
crew and couch{Had to post a pic with little man on it}centerpieceI also snatched up this fun mini green house.  I imagine it’s perfect home will be on the dining room table with some white pots and succulents.  And the best part…wait for it…wait for it… it was only $12.99 at Marshall’s!  I’ll take it!  Gotta love bargain finds.
uyenHubs and I got a chance to get away for a bit this weekend…and the weather was gorge!  Got to pull out my floppy floppy (hat that is).

Uyen and lanceWe rarely get pics with the two of us together.  Either he’s behind the camera or I am.  If we do pull off a pic together, it’s usually an iphone one.  Love technology.
Hope everyone had a fabulous Easter Weekend!

pretty things.

I’ve been determined to get a little organization in my life.  I find that I have so many ideas and sometimes forget about them cause I’m running around like a mad woman.  I know many people carry idea pads or notebooks with them and yes I’m a little late but I’m starting to catch on.  I sometimes use my notes app on my iPhone but I find something therapeutic about writing out thoughts and ideas the old school way with pen and paper.  I’ve been jotting down to do lists and ideas for my blog.  You might find a doodle or two too.  I can’t tell you how many notebooks I have that are just waiting to be used.  I have a little thing for pretty notebooks!

{Notebooks purchased from Target, not sure if these ones are still available but you can find similar ones here.  Brooch is from Forever21– such a great budget find and one of my favorite pieces}
Notebooks
I had a chance to stop into one of my favorite furniture stores…The Crowded House in Chandler, Arizona.  I love almost every piece in the store and let me tell you it is packed with goodness!  I know furniture can get pretty pricey and therefore  I am a believer in investing in pieces that are timeless and can grow with you as your taste changes.  The Crowded House has a very eclectic feel and my home is definitely craving some dining chairs I’ve had my eye on.

I’m sure I’ll do an in depth feature on The Crowded House in the future.  I will be venturing out on this overcast day enjoying the rest of the weekend.  Hope your weekend is filled with lots of adventures!
