weekend recap.

Crew easter basketCelebrating Crew’s first Holidays are so fun. Even though he probably doesn’t know what’s going on, I love making a big deal out of them! I had so much fun putting together his Easter basket. Obviously he’s not into candy yet…so I (Easter bunny mama) filled it with all sorts of goodies that he could use everyday. I added the chalkboard to the tin bucket and I’m glad I can reuse it in his room. I put a few t-shirts in his basket as he’s growing like a weed and can always use more clothes! Those little shoes are actually all plastic! They are i play shoes and I thought they would be perfect for when we start heading to splash pads. They can get wet and are so light weight. Crew loves pounding on things and what would be better than this little piano. I just hope my ears can withstand it. But who knows, maybe he’ll be a little mozart, ha! I added a new Mickey Mouse book with sounds and also new paci’s. He loves his food, normally I make organic food for him but once in awhile when I’m in a pinch I turn to Plum Organics baby food. I like their wide range of flavors! I couldn’t wait to see him dig into this basket!crew easter Crew Easter 2{Crew loved banging on this piano}
Crew Easter3dining benchFAB FINDS! Don’t you just love it when you find something amazing!!!!! I’ve been trying to design my formal dining area. It’s the first thing you see when you walk through my front door. I am going for industrial chic with a twist look. Honestly, I love so many looks I don’t know what direction to turn to. I definitely don’t want it to be too stuffy and I want the overall look to be functional and of course make you go “ooohhhh ahhhh”. I came across this tufted bench at Marshall’s- sometimes you can find such awesome pieces there! And…. I even got it for 15% off! I kindly spoke with the manager on duty to see if there was anything they could do as it had some marks on the fabric (mostly marks I could easily clean). Hey, it never hurts to ask and this in this case it came out in my favor. I picture this bench to be used as seating around a farm like table. I would have two chairs at the end of the table and two chairs or a bench on the opposite side of the tufted bench. I’m excited to pull it all together. Once I get further in the design process, I’ll post before and afters!
crew and couch{Had to post a pic with little man on it}centerpieceI also snatched up this fun mini green house.  I imagine it’s perfect home will be on the dining room table with some white pots and succulents.  And the best part…wait for it…wait for it… it was only $12.99 at Marshall’s!  I’ll take it!  Gotta love bargain finds.
uyenHubs and I got a chance to get away for a bit this weekend…and the weather was gorge!  Got to pull out my floppy floppy (hat that is).

Uyen and lanceWe rarely get pics with the two of us together.  Either he’s behind the camera or I am.  If we do pull off a pic together, it’s usually an iphone one.  Love technology.
Hope everyone had a fabulous Easter Weekend!

As a first time mama, I’m still learning how to juggle my time.  People who know me, just know I’m going to run five minutes late.  I can’t help it, it’s as if it’s in my DNA.  I try so hard too!  I set my alarm extra early; I trick myself to thinking I have to be wherever I need to be an hour before I really have to be there; I organize everything the night before; and still the clock isn’t on my side.  What can I say…I’m a work in progress and I’m working on it.  So if I’m not there in five minutes…just wait longer 😉  But I promise I’ll hurry hurry hurry!
Here are my outfit picks for an on the go gal!  This casual everyday outfit would be super comfortable and perfect for running errands or maybe meeting your girlfriends for lunch.   For me, I’d probably be chasing my little man in it!  Light weight and versatile!  I am in love with nude shoes…since I’m short it helps elongate my line.  Nude also goes with everything!  Just because I’m a mama, doesn’t mean I have to carry a clunky-cheesy diaper bag.  How cute is this Petunia Pick Bottom Cake?!  I have the same style in yellow and I love it!  It doesn’t look like a diaper bag and honestly I would totally use it for a weekend bag or carry on!  This bag has just enough compartments to store all of your babies needs.  This JCrew link bracelet is something I’ve had my eye on for a while!  I love to layer my bracelets and this particular one would be perfect for layering.  Pair it with some dainty bracelets and your arm candy will “shine bright like a diamond” (I literally just sang that out loud).  I love love love my aviators.  I have other sunglasses but I always pick these ones as my go to glasses!  Even if I’m sporting work out clothes, these aviators seem to make me look put together.  Isn’t everyone always searching for the perfect tee?  A white T-shirt should definitely be a staple in anyone’s closet.  A nice fitted tee can pair with jeans, skirts, shorts, oh the possibili-TEES!  <—-Ha, so clever (I’m really proud of that one, haha).  And lastly this skirt!  A grey jersey maxi…ummm YES please!  I adore this because instead of a regular loose fitting maxi this particular maxi has a mermaid silhouette giving you a more tailored casual look.  My closet has a reserved spot for the jersey maxi, just don’t tell my hubby!*!

Blush and gold tassel key chain.

tassel 5Blush and gold is one of my favorite color schemes.  Pair these two together and you can’t go wrong.  I keep seeing the cutest key chains at coach, kate spade, and other fine stores but I felt I could tackle this project myself.  I used this tutorial over at LovelyIndeed blog, you can get step by step instructions there.  I revamped mine a bit and added a little gold twist to it.  I am absolutely in love with it and I’m sure my keys enjoy dressing up too!  I have also clipped it to a clutch of mine and revived that as well!  So many options!
tassel 1I started out by cutting my strip of leather (or faux leather) to 10 inches x 4 1/2 inches.  I then wanted to spruce it up by modge podging gold leaf to it.  I added gold leaf all the way across the leather leaving about an inch at the top without gold leaf.  I intentionally scattered the gold leaf imperfectly.  I liked that it had an organic feel to it!
tassel 2After I let the gold leaf dry (about an hour), I brushed a very light coat of modge podge on top of the gold leaf to set it.  I also made sure I lightly removed any excess gold leaf.
tassel 3I sliced each section with about 1/4 of an inch space between each cut and left  roughly an inch on top uncut.
tassel 4I then used super glue to adhere the clip attached to the strip of leather and started to roll the fringe leather around that piece.  As you can see I opted for a clip rather than a key ring.  I felt like it would be more versatile.
tassel 6And voila! Isn’t it pretty!  Obsessed.

Love this key chain and want to dress up your keys?  Guess what… I made an extra one!

weekend recap.

Crew03.24.13Seriously…I am absolutely in love with this sweet baby boy!  I heard over and over again when I was pregnant that being a mother is the best thing in the world…and really it is!  I love being his mother and I enjoy doing everything with him.  I love seeing him take everything in, you can see him processing information- babies are so smart!  So crazy that I was just carrying him in my belly 9 months ago!  A group of friends had coordinated a barbecue at a park this past weekend and it was so fun, especially seeing all of us with little ones now.

CREW & LU SQ-1. Biz CardEveryone has bright ideas and wonderful insight.  It just depends if they want to share it with the world.  I was always nervous about documenting certain aspects of my life nor did I think anyone was going to find me interesting.  But since I have started, I have enjoyed it so much.  Not only has it been challenging but quite a learning experience.  I like giving myself the opportunity to be surrounded by creative, motivated, and the loveliest of people.  I have already made some new budding friendships as well as strengthened some.
I am so thrilled and giddy to show you my new business cards and stationary.  It was important for me to have CREW & LU as a recognizable brand not only to establish creditability but to achieve the overall look I was going for.  I knew I wanted clean lines with a touch of whimsy.  I turned to my good friend Julie, with Champagne Press to help me with my branding.  From the instant I started to collaborate and share my ideas, Julie ran with them (I should say danced with them) and made them even better!  If you ever need any lovely stationary, cards, invites, and now branding; Champagne Press will help make your ideas come to life.  I hope you enjoy everything as much as I love them.

make up 2

I have always been a MAC girl.  Perhaps I’m biased because MAC started my major crush with makeup.  I think the company as a whole really gives back to their makeup artists and provides further education.  I also feel their makeup wears really well with my skin type.  Sometimes the olive skin tone is really hard to match but I always find a perfect combo with MAC.  Although I’m a MAC groupie, I’m definitely not opposed to trying other products.
makeup1.  MAC Studio Fix  2.  L’oreal Voluminous Mascara  3.  MAC 217 Brush  4.  MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick {Style Surge}  5.  Bobbie Brown BB Cream

I love MAC studio fix.  It provides full coverage but depending on the brush it can give you a lighter finish as well.  I use the MAC buffer brush to give me a light dust of studio fix over my bb cream.  If I’m heading out for the evening and want more coverage I’ll use the sponge included in the studio fix to set my finish.  As for mascara… I know everyone is in search for the perfect mascara.  I can’t tell you enough how much I love love love L’oreal voluminous.  I get it in carbon black and you can pretty much find it anywhere!  It coats my lashes so well, I don’t have a full set of lashes at all and I feel like it makes them so luscious!  If I had to have a go to brush, it would be the MAC 217 blender.  And that’s exactly what it does…blends.  It’s so important to blend each shade on your lid.  Your colors will look so much cleaner and you’ll get a more professional look.  Go over each shade clockwise or counterclockwise (whatever is most comfortable to you) in small circles starting at the outer part of your lid and work your way towards the inner.  You’ll see a world of difference in your overall look- a more professional look.  I normally don’t wear lipstick- not that I don’t love to but because I kiss my son so much…teehee.  But I found this color- Style Surge and I’m in love with it!  It’s a peachy/coral bit of goodness and just in time for spring. I’ve recently jumped on the band wagon and started using a bb cream.  I was using a different brand before and thought it was ok, and then I found Bobbi Brown’s bb cream and it’s growing on me.  I love bb creams mainly because it’s so easy!  Gives you a light finish evening your skin tone.  For me, I’m more on the dry skin side so it gives me enough moisture without being oily.  And it comes with SPF which is great.  Stay tuned… I’ll do a more detailed post on makeup looks in the future!

weekend recap.

weekend 2St. Patty’s Day weekend-this Holiday snuck up on me!  Where does the time go?  We love family time… I have been so busy lately that I really cherish the moments I can spend with my family.  My hubs and I have made family fun day a must so no matter how much we have to do or need to get done, it pretty much goes on the back burner.  The pile of dishes in the sink can wait! Along with the unfolded laundry, unmade bed, etc.  Bahaha!  I know… a hot mess, yes that’s me 🙂

The Coffee Shop is one of my favorite places!  I crave their coffee, particularly their Spanish Latte and their food is quite delish.  It was such a perfect day to come here as we sat outside and marveled in sunshine.  Little man was quite a happy bee, making us giggle thinking we have the coolest kid in town as every parent does.  These are the moments I can not get enough of…I need to stop and remind myself that this is why we both work so hard.  Of course, I think any mom would choose to be a stay at home mom.  I have been torn lately because I feel like I am missing out on such a precious time in my sons life.  He is growing so fast, it feels like I just delivered him and at a blink of an eye he’s crawling all over the place!  But then again, I can’t see myself not working.  I am very ambitious and don’t like to give up.  I have many plans…  Maybe one day I will actually figure it out!  But  as of right now I am a working mama bringing home the bacon.  As my husband says, my “play money”.  Does anyone else have experience with juggling being a mama and a being career woman as well?
Any advice is surely welcomed!  Just wanted to make a quick shout out to the hubs…thank you- thank you for your patience with me and most importantly being my biggest fan.  I’m not sure how many people this blog will reach but I for sure know I will always have my hubs as a viewer. 🙂

dress me up buttercup.

I am definitely a skirt/dress kind of girl.  It’s more comfortable to me and the best thing about them is that you can “twirl” in them!  Makes running your daily errands so much more fun.  I have been meaning to wear this belt for the longest time (I’ve had it forever) and could never figure out how to pull it together until now.  I feel like its perfect for this outfit- giving the overall look a little edge.  There’s something totally awesome about a classic denim shirt, definitely should be a staple in everyone’s closet.

light bulb ideas.

You know when you go about your daily routine and out of the blue “ding” a thought hits you.  I love those moments!  Most of those moments happen at the most inconvenient times though… like when I’m driving and I can’t write anything down.  Then I go on this 15 minute bout with Siri trying to tell her to make a note for me.  Apparently I don’t enunciate enough because every time I look back at my notes, it looks like gibberish.  Any how I will get to the point, I will start a segment titled “light bulb ideas”.  These posts will be about things that I should have done before or seriously… why didn’t I think of that?  I’m not gonna lie, you’ll probably read some posts thinking…”really Uyen…ummm ok?”.  But to me, I will most likely think its mind blowing!

I believe in investing in jewelry that is timeless and classic.  Example, my wedding ring, stud earrings, etc.  But I know most of us are on a fashion budget.  I have many pieces that I adore from Forever 21 or random shops.  And I love that I can stay in trend but not spend a ton.  The problem with those pieces of jewelry, specifically my rings are… well… the mark around your finger reminding you it’s not real!  Not to fret…here comes the light bulb idea!
